During the afternoon, departure to the Lima airport to join Iquitos where you will be assisted by our guides and transported by bus for about 1 ½ hours, heading northwest toward Nauta, where the DELFIN is waiting for you. Installation in your cabins. It will become clear that you are traveling where few have gone before. In fact, you are part of a select group of seasoned world travelers who visit remote Pacaya-Samiria Reserve, five million acres of protected, flooded forest, roughly the size of a small Central American country. A world of flora and fauna awaits you.

DAY 2:

BELLUDA CAÑO – DORADO RIVER. (Cruise).

06:00 am. After the breakfast, dawn and dusk are ideal times for nature observation, and an early rise is therefore highly recommended. Aboard the skiffs, we will explore this black water stream and start learning about the rainforest. You are now in Pacaya Samiria national reserve, where you will have the chance to see its amazing wildlife. From the skiff you can easily spot parrots, macaws and monkeys, such as the monk Saki monkey. You might also see the saddle back tamarin monkey, whose high chirping notes can easily be confused with those of a flock of birds.

During the dry season, you can visit and explore two different kinds of ecosystems: flooded forest and terra firme forest. After disembarking at this native village we’ll start our morning hike. This walk affords excellent opportunities for spotting transitional species such as the snail kite, black tailed ant bird, manikins, tanagers, hummingbirds etc… After an hour we’ll reach a lovely lagoon where two dugout canoes await us in the midst of one of the most remote, least visited areas in the world. This lagoon is filled with endangered and unique fresh water fish, such as the paiche, the largest in the Amazon basin, which can weigh more than 80kg.

11:00 am. Back to the boat for the lunch. We will continue upstream towards our next destination.

03:30 pm. El Dorado River exploration, we will head for this spectacular spot within the Pacaya-Samiria Reserve In the skiffs, where you will also experience an unforgettable encounter with gray and pink river dolphins.

On the river you will experience abundant wildlife and nature in all its exuberance while we search for the Amazon River’s transitional forest specialties such as snail kites, festive parrots, endangered scarlet macaws among others.

06:30 pm. Back to the boat for the dinner at 8 pm. Free evening.

DAY 3:

PUINAHUA – ATUN POZA LAKE – RIO PACAYA. (Cruise).

08:00 am. After the breakfast we will begin our Atun Poza expedition . (Rainy season) This morning we will cruise in our skiffs along a lake called Atun Poza, where we will surprise several species of egrets, herons, hawks…We will also have a chance to explore other black water lagoons linked to this huge lake.

Dry Season : hiking at Atun Poza we will hike through this pristine and unique ecosystem, passing through a classic tropical rainforest with emergent trees and canopy trees reaching.This forest is also very good for spotting birds such as the bluish-fronted jacamar seen in pairs in middle and lower parts of forest edges, or collared trogons, red capped cardinals, etc…

11:00 am. Back to the vessel. We will continue up the Puinahua River towards the Pacaya River, our destination at the very heart of the Pacaya Samiria Reserve, for further exploration of the largest wetland reserve in the world. Lunch on board.

04:00 pm. Pacaya River expedition : we have reached our main goal, the Pacaya River, at the very heart of the Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve, Peru’s largest protected area. Filled with lakes, palm swamps and streams, the reserve becomes a flooded forest in the rainy season and is one of the most beautiful places you’ll ever visit.

At sunset, you’ll be will be astonished by the beautiful colors of the sky and the reflection of the jungle in the black water of the Pacaya River, which is why it has been called the forest of reflections: it’s hard to know where the jungle begins and the water ends. Spectacled and black caimans are found in these pristine waters, and our guides will point them out to you. Stargazing at this time is unique while fireflies light up the jungle around us.

DAY 4:

PUERTO MIGUEL COMMUNITY – YARAPA RIVER – PORT DE NAUTA – IQUITOS – LIMA.

6 :30am. Early departure on the Ucayali River to join the Yurucuche Lake. Small walking through the forest to discover aquatic plants, the tallest in the world : “the Royal victories”. You will one of the only persons to see this show. Return on the boat for the breakfast.

This morning, the DelfinII will sail to and fro across the national reserve limits of Pacaya Samiria, a dense vegetation on five millions of acres. In this place, intersection between two of the largest rivers, the Ucayali and the Spondias, you could see one of the most important falls in the world.Cette excursion sera baignée par les chants d’oiseaux, des hirondelles au long bec, de faucons souriants et des douzaines d’autres oiseaux.

From there, we will join a location filled with Port le Pré natives, where you could share with the local inhabitants of this far away part of the world and know more about their cultures, traditions and folklore. Early in the morning, we will follow our road to go to the surprising « Salinas de Maras » salt water sources which have been flowed for centuries and still unexploited by the local population who rent one or several parcels.

From this place, we will discover Moray, Amphitheatre composed by several terraces disposed on concentric circles. In fact, it was an Inca agricultural research centre where was practiced cultural experience. Each terrace creates a microclimate where it’s possible to cultivate more than 250 plant’s varieties.

The Chinchero village based in Cusco campaign was entirely built, like Ollantaytambo, in Inca bases. To “Tupac Yupanqui” could repose himself during his displacement. PUINAHUA – RIVIERE PACAYA – LAC ATUN POZA. (Cruise).

6:30 Am. Breakfast and departure for a long walk in the Amazonian forest where your guide will present you the developing projects of the area. We will visit one of these projects when inhabitants plant palms to obtain oil, and create artificial turtle’s nets to protect their eggs.

Immediately we will sink into the jungle to find a wild life. Our naturalist guide will show you several medicinal plants. Return on board for the lunch.

Towards 3:00pm : Expedition to observe monkeys, Dolphins and Caymans. You could appreciate two different kinds of dolphins living in soft water. You will be surprised by an important variety of primates as 13 monkey species living in the national park. This moment will be devoted to the discovery of an unusual fauna and flora. Return on the boat where we will spend the evening.

DAY 4:

CARO CURAHUAYTE LACK – FISHING TOUR. (Cruise).

After your breakfast, you will leave the boat to visit a wonderful lagoon where you could realize an unusual fishing, the Piranha, which can reach an impressive size in this area : an unique moment to share. If your fishing is successful, the chief will know to cook it according to your desires.

You will also the opportunity to discover lots of tucan, monkeys and parrots. During the route, we will do a little break to feed the famous Pink Dolphin, an important moment of this cruise. From this place you will go down the river to Iquitos.

In the afternoon, optional visit of the « Ribereña » community where your guide and you will be deep in customs and traditions of this fishermen village.

DAY 10:

OLLANTAYTAMBO – MORAY – MARAS – CHINCHERO – CUSCO. (Private Van).

Early in the morning, we will follow our road to go to the surprising « Salinas de Maras » salt water sources which have been flowed for centuries and still unexploited by the local population who rent one or several parcels.

From this place, we will discover Moray, Amphitheatre composed by several terraces disposed on concentric circles. In fact, it was an Inca agricultural research centre where was practiced cultural experience. Each terrace creates a microclimate where it’s possible to cultivate more than 250 plant’s varieties.

The Chinchero village based in Cusco campaign was entirely built, like Ollantaytambo, in Inca bases. To “Tupac Yupanqui” could repose himself during his displacement. It’s one of the rare villages who still own today, Incas traces. Its Church or all these terraces are the proof. Return to Cusco. Installation at your hostel.

DAY 11:

CUSCO – LIMA – CITY TOUR. (Plane / Private Van).

Early in the morning, transfer to the airport for a flight to Lima. Upon your arrival, welcome by a Novalys representative.

Then, we will join the Lima historic center, Unesco site from 1991. Before to visit the San Francisco convent, we will discover the San Martin Place, the Weapons Place and its cathedral. These examples of a colonial, Neo Classique, Art Deco and New Art architectures will you be travel through the time. Lunch in a Cevicheria.

At the beginning of afternoon, we will visit Barranco, an old fishermen village. This district is today a seaside, very attractive for foreign and local people. It is the romantic, bohemian and night owl area of Lima. Transfer to your hostel.

This evening, you will dinner in the district of Miraflores.
